Bromeliad Selections

Bromeliad plants have central floral spikes up to 2 feet tall and 8- to 10-inch long spiny-edged leaves that form a cup that can hold water. In some Bromeliad species, the flower has waxy, colored leaves. Other Bromeliad species send up an actual inflorescence. Bromeliad plants bloom six weeks to four months, depending on variety. Numerous factors contribute to bromeliad blooms: time, light and water are just a few. One of the most important variables is temperature, with a minimum requirement of 50 degrees.
